Unitē Expert: David Alajajian, M.D.

David Alajajian was born in Glendale, California, and grew up in the Silicon Valley. After finishing his undergraduate studies in Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley he worked in a UCSF medical research lab. It was while doing translational research in Prostate Cancer immunotherapies that David discovered he wanted to become a physician to bring emerging treatments from the research lab to the clinic in order to better the lives of patients. He went to New York Medical College where he earned his medical doctorate and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at North Shore and Long Island Jewish Hospitals within the Hofstra University/Northwell Health program. David’s residency training was vigorous in the areas of quality improvement and high-value care, passions he brings with him to his practice today. He returned home to the Los Angeles area in 2017 where he currently lives with his partner. Working at Pacific Oaks Medical Group, an LGBT and HIV community-based practice, he sharpened his HIV knowledge, investigated new therapies as a sub-investigator and later PI, and adapted the practice to telehealth and EHR during the COVID 19 pandemic. David is board-certified in Internal Medicine and an American Academy of HIV Medicine HIV specialist. He is excited to join The Doctor Medical Group as Chief Medical Officer. His vision is that a doctor is no longer a single individual but rather an entire interdisciplinary healthcare team dedicated to responding to the ever-changing dynamic needs of a community. He believes that practicing or “doctoring” in the future requires anticipating future needs with a high-value cost-conscious approach, utilizing tech innovation to ease healthcare access and equity.
