Masking, or what some call being in "the closet", is often a survival skill used to protect one's identity and for many becomes an unconscious skill for life keeping the individual stuck.

"Coming out" is a very personal and private decision. Some don't feel the need to "come out" and some just speak their authentic truth without caring what other's think.
